Dark Fiber
Dark fiber connections are commonly purchased or leased by enterprise businesses that wish to deploy and manage their own fiber lines as well as businesses that wish to invest up-front in future bandwidth capacity. Additionally, many companies purchase long-term Indefeasible Right of Use (IRU) contracts which allow them to consider their fiber lines as a physical business asset. The Sign Up Process
Step 1
Connect your Facility
The RVBA Fiber network currently forms a ring around the Roanoke Valley, and businesses gain access by connecting their facility to the ring with a “Direct to Door” connection. Determine the best way to connect by scheduling a site survey and facility assessment with the RVBA at sales@highspeedroanoke.net.
Step 2
Select a Service
The RVBA currently offers three types of connections:
- Transport and Internet (Global access in an instant)
- Dark Fiber (Leasing and IRU)
- Transport Only (Great for data center connectivity and mirroring).
The RVBA can help you select the service that best fits your business.
Step 3
Arrange Ancillary Services
The RVBA has vetted 3rd party support teams to provide additional services should you determine your business needs them. Current ancillary services include such as:
- Shared Point of Presence data center access at the Blue Ridge PBS Technical Operations Center (TOC)
- Turnkey network management support
- Custom last mile and internet system infrastructure build-outs
